Amael Druez artisan knifemaker Handcrafted Knife

Artisan cutler Amaël Druez is a passionate craftsperson, knifemaker and bladesmith at the Le Temps D’Un Souffle workshop – cutlery of Art. He practises his craft at the heart of his workshop, where he creates art knives and forges. His history with the forge fire began in 2013 and, since then, this passion has continued to burn intensely.

Initially drawn to forging out of pure enthusiasm, Amaël trained himself through associations. His initial work revolved around metal, with a focus on jewellery making and sculpture. After three years of constant experimentation and gathering equipment, he decided to transform his workshop into a true knife-making forge.

His passion for materials leads him to take real pleasure in transforming various raw materials into elegant pieces. He works with metal, wood, horn, as well as a myriad of precious materials such as fossil mammoth ivory or coral. The possibilities seem endless, both in the choice of materials and in the working techniques.

Since 2017, Amaël has provided training courses in his workshop, offering a wide range from simple discovery to mastery.

Whether creating a forge-finished knife or a knife with high-precision mechanics, including Damascus steel forging, he adapts to each person’s projects according to their level and aspirations.

He finds genuine fulfilment in a life constantly seeking learning and discovery, drawing on personal enrichment and the sharing of knowledge.
